FAQ

What should I do if I get in a crash?

Call 9-1-1

Seek medical care.

Take photos or video of everything you can.

Get witness information if you can.

DO NOT sign anything from the insurance companies.

Call your attorney before you speak to the insurance companies if possible.

Why is it important to hire an attorney?

The average is 3.5 times more money if you have an attorney than if you represent yourself. 3.5 is just an average, our firm has gotten 10 times or more than when a person was going it alone. An attorney will know how to handle things properly and fully understands the laws to maximize your recovery.

What is UIM or UM (underinsured or uninsured coverage)?

This is coverage in case the person who injures you is underinsured or has no insurance. It is so important because there are a lot of people driving around with no insurance or really crappy, low policies.

What is my role in my case?

If you are injured, your job is to get better. Keep doctor’s appointments and keep our office updated on where you are treating your injuries.

What is Owen Law Firm’s role in the case?

We will be there for you to answer questions. We will gather all the bills and records for your case and fight the insurance companies and the parties who harmed you. We will advocate diligently and file a lawsuit if necessary. We are not afraid to litigate!

How much do you charge to represent me?

For personal injury claims, it is $0 up front and I only get paid if I am successful in getting you a settlement or award. Then the fee is 1/3 plus costs. *If your case proceeds to litigation, the fee may be higher.

For civil rights cases it is a case-by-case basis.
